Customer Review :
A truly awesome product : StarTech.com 3.5-Inch USB 2.0 to IDE SATA External Hard Drive Enclosure - Black (UNI3510U2)
I had been holding onto 3 drives (2 IDE, 1 SATA) taken from old computers with obsolete or non-functioning OSs. I thought that the only way to get my data off of the disks was to take them to a data recovery service or go through the pain of learning how to install them in a new machine as slave drives. Either way, I was dreading the hassle and expense. Then I discovered this wonderfully simple and cheap solution.
Thanks to this product, I have now managed to extract the needed data from all 3 disks without a hitch (other than one disk having some data corruption; but that's probably why the OS failed in the first place -- not StarTech's fault.)
I'm a software guy, not a hardware geek. I really don't like poking around inside a computer. But the process of connecting the disk to the chassis and the chassis to the computer was simple even for me. Thanks StarTech.
